I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Fleming's despatch No 374 of the 15th ultimo, on the subject of the removal of the Lazaretto from Stonecutter's Island.
2. I infer that the hulk now being built will be used as a combined Epidemic and Quarantine Hospital, and that when a ship is placed in quarantine or when healthy passengers are landed from a ship having a foul bill of health, they will be accommodated in the mat-sheds to which Mr Fleming alludes, and which, I presume, will be located on the ground or part of the ground occupied by the present quarantine station at Stonecutters Island. I desire further information on these points, because the chart mentioned in the 3rd paragraph of the report of the Mixed Board of Civil and Military Officers has not been enclosed, and the exact scheme proposed remains, therefore, a
